Samuel Cathcart
"Spartanburg Cathcarts"

Samuel is the progenitor of the Cathcart line that settled primarily in the area around Spartanburg County, South Carolina—hence the name "Spartanburg Cathcarts."   Samuel was born in Ireland (probably County Antrim) in about 1744.  He immigrated to the United States in about 1767, arriving at Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 23, on board the Lord Dunagannon.

We find Samuel in the 1790, 1800, an 1810 census enumerations in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

We also have Samuel's will, which provides much useful information about his offspring.
