St Louis Marriages shows a Robert Cathcart married Hannah Goodall* on Sept
2, 1834. Familysearch website. No ages or dates of birth provided.
Robert and his wife appear in 1840 census in St. Louis. He lists Ireland as
his place of birth.
Robert Cathcart arrived in Santa Cruz in 1850 from St. Louis, Mo. He and his
wife operated a combination home and hotelry..."Riptide Centenial" 1950

He was also a Public Administrator for Santa Cruz County. Part of his duties
was to publish notifications when people died and administer estates. Info
from San Francisco papers.
Died: In Santa Cruz, May 18, suddenly, Capt. Cathcart, age 50 years, an old
and esteemed resident of California..."Wide West" (weekly San Francisco
newspaper) 1 June 1856, pg 2, col 6.
