2. The listing of Joseph Cathcart, Jr. above as father of John C Cathcart is conjectural.  Several online databases assert that this is the case, so it is included in the chart above.  However, it may also be possible that John is the son of Joseph Cathcart, Sr.--the revolutionary war spy.
   1. Interestingly, since Gwen and HR (group 3) Cathcart are exact matches at the 67-marker level, it would indicate that there is a close relationship between these lines.  Furthermore, many researchers of the William and Mary line indicate that William had a son named Joseph—about whom little is known—so this might be an appropriate match to assume.  Further research is needed.
