The Group 12 tester (SL) descends from
James Monro Cathcart, Sr.,
born in South Carolina about 1829, who later lived in Georgia and
Comanche County, Texas. His Y-DNA results show he belongs to the
Spartanburg Cathcart line,
descending from Samuel
Cathcart, with a very high degree of confidence. For the moment we have one participant from
this line: SL Cathcart.
Initial genealogical research (see notes
in link above) seem to indicate that James would somehow fit in
with Samuel and the Spartanburg Cathcarts. Given the close
relationship with C Cathcart (a known member of the Spartanburg
Cathcart line), at least we know it's a genetic possibility.
The equally close genetic link to other
Cathcart lines means that more research is needed to formalize
James' connection with the Spartanburg Cathcarts
